AION 2 Combat Power vs Item Level: Choose the Next Upgrade
Separate Combat Power from Item Level, inspect the content gate and prioritize permanent upgrades without assuming a universal 1500 target.
Do not treat “1500 Combat Power” as a universal dungeon-entry requirement. Game8’s September 30 guide distinguishes CP, a broader strength indicator, from Item Level requirements used by content. Read the exact gate and improve the metric it names.
Read the label before chasing the number
Game8 says CP includes more character progression systems than Item Level, while dungeon requirements remain tied to equipment thresholds. Record the number and its label on the locked activity; an Item Level requirement and a CP goal are different tasks. This is an attributed guide distinction, not a client-tested formula.

| Problem | First check | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Activity says Item Level too low | Equipment level and empty gear slots | Assuming a CP increase clears the same gate |
| CP seems low with full equipment | Permanent progression, skills and pet bonuses | Buying a service to chase an unlabeled benchmark |
| Character enters but performs poorly | Relevant class stats, skill use and survival | Treating one rating as a guaranteed clear |
| Enhancement materials scarce | Gear lifetime and visible success chance | Spreading costly upgrades across temporary pieces |
A low-cost audit before enhancement
The guide recommends filling equipment slots, improving gear, checking Manastones, using Daevanion progression and upgrading relevant skills, Stigmas and Genus Insight. It also warns that equipment growth has a success chance. Start with missing or unused progression before committing materials to gear you are about to replace.
- Record CP, Item Level and the blocked activity’s exact requirement.
- Inspect every available equipment slot and compare replacements you already own.
- Check unspent permanent-progression points and the skills you actually use.
- Read enhancement cost and success chance on the intended gear.
- Change one thing, then record both CP and Item Level again.
- Recheck the content gate instead of assuming the rating increase is sufficient.
Make a small before-and-after record
A useful comparison has four fields: the upgrade, resource cost, CP change and Item Level change. Use the same character state on both measurements. Temporary buffs, switched gear or a different service can make an apparently large improvement incomparable. This is a measurement method, not a promise that every listed system adds an identical amount.
The captured material does not establish a current, service-independent 1500 CP entry rule, upgrade formula, guaranteed enhancement success or hours-to-target. Seller guides with different numeric benchmarks are not combined into one progression ladder.

| Field | Captured value | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Required equipment level | 1,600 | Compare the equipment/Item Level field |
| Combat Power | No 1,600-CP requirement established by that field | Record CP separately |
This stage-one Transcendence example makes the distinction concrete: the database calls the requirement equipment level. Before spending, open the same mode in your client; a different stage, patch or hidden prerequisite can add another condition.
- Record the exact activity and stage alongside the locked field.
- Change one equipment or permanent-progression choice and check whether that field moved.
- If the field meets the displayed requirement but entry fails, inspect the remaining unlock conditions rather than increasing an unrelated number.
The dated source records and this article’s wording were reviewed on October 7, 2026. “Last checked” means source and editorial review. No current game client, account, installation, purchase or reward delivery was independently tested. Older sources retain their original dates, service regions and version limits.
Common questions
What is Combat Power?
Game8 describes Combat Power as a broader indication of character progression than Item Level. Item Level still matters for equipment-based dungeon requirements; the captured guide does not establish a universal 1500-CP entry rule.
